LONDON HIDE MARKET.

Weddel and Co., London, September 30, reported that during the week American markets had remained dull and weak and, "in fact, until these American markets begin to revive and become stronger there is very little chance of a rally on the hide market." Stocks of frigorificos were being kept within limits but there would have to be more sales to avoid accumulation; In Europe the position was one of almost constant idleness, tanners sitting back waiting to see the turn of events elsewhere. On the other hand, it was reported that the leather markets were not really suffering to any extent on account of the dull state of hides. In miscellaneous and colonial varieties the position remained steady although no trading was going on*
