PLEASANT RECEPTION
PLUNKBT VISITORS WELCOMED
A pleasant reception was given last evening at the club in the T. and G. Buildings by the Wellington branch of the Plunket Society in hontmr. of the visiting delegates' to the conference.-' :.■ ■'-■■■ ■ ;" " '' .'■ ■■. • The- artistic lounge was charmingly decorated with flowers by Miss Cameron, there being large bowls and stands of handome rhododendrons, as well 'as a number of charming mixed bowls, a number of these being in the supper room. The guests were received by Mrs. Jowett (Wellington president), and among the . committee members who were hostesses for the evening were Mesdames Bullock, Henry Hall, Vickerman, Godfrey Wilson, D. M. Jack, W. A. Parton, H. Chalmers, Misses Cameron, A. Kane, and E. Ward (secretary). Mrs. James Begg (Dunedin), who has just been elected as Dominion president of the society, received many congratulations, and was very cordially welcomed to the position. Practically all, the delegates were present, making a gathering of considerably over one hundred, and with so many topics of mutual interest the gathering could not fail to be both interesting and pleasant. Among the council members were Mrs. Sandford Cox and Mrs. Cleghorn (Dunedin), Mrs. Harding (Dargaville), Mrs. Allen (Auckland), Mrs. W. Weston (New .Plymouth), Mrs. Caselberg (Masterton), Mrs. Hood (Blenheim), Mrs. Cracroft Wilson (Christchurch), Mrs. Buchanan (Christchurch), Miss Niven (Nelson), Mrs. Hannah (Patea), Mrs. C. Gray, Mrs. Bodkin (Otago), Mrs. Bloomfield (Hamilton), Mrs. Blair (Gisborne), Mrs. Patterson (Pahiatua), and Miss Cook (Marton). The Minister of Health (the Hon. P. Fraser) and the Hon. W. Nash (a member of the Wellington Advisory Board) came in during the evening and were cordially welcomed. Among the few guests who did not belong to the society were Lady Myers and Miss Lambie (director of the New Zealand Nursing Service). Very, pleasant entertainment was given by Mrs. K. Ainslie, who sang some delightful songs, and Mrs. Hastings, whose monologues were most popular and appreciated. An excellent supper was served. When the announcement was made during the conference that Mrs. James Begg (Dunedin) had been elected as the Dominion president, some very cordial welcomes were given, and she was presented with some beautiful flowers. Compliments were also paid to Lady Sidey (retiring president), who has done a great deal of good work for'the society for many years, and appreciated expressed of her work. She was also presented with a bouquet of flowers. Many of her friends at the reception were glad to have an opportunity of meeting her and adding their thanks for the interest she has taken in Plunket work, and the help she has given in a number of directions.
