DELIGHTFUL "AT HOME"
A particularly happy gathering of old friends took place at the home of Mrs. W. H. Rose, Clifton Terrace, yesterday, when she entertained her sister-in-law, Mrs. C. V. Houghton, of Auckland, and a number of her old friends. The house was decorated with many bowls of mixed flowers, and the tea table in the dining-room, where afternoon tea was served, was gay with Iceland poppies. Mrs. Rose, who was in a reception gown of slate blue wool crepe,' was assisted in entertaining by her daughter, Miss Marjorie Rose, who was in a graceful frock of black silk marocain with a large flowered pattern, and by Mrs. McClurg (daughter of Mrs. Houghton), who wore a smart frock of black crepe with narrow kiltings of scarlet, and a small high-crowned hat. The guest of honour was in a tailleur of beige wool "serge , with touches of prune and a prune tinted hat of fine straw. ■ . Among: ttcsa present were Mrs. Bucholz. Mrs. S. Wheeler,' Mrs. Bristow. An amber frock with a vest of pale bamboo-shoot green is ■ designed for spring wear with a tailored coat of soft woollen' material, which may be discarded as the days grow wanner.
