BUT RATHER WINDY

Special forecast for Wellington:— Moderate to strong north-wester-ly to westerly winds. Weather fine, with cool night

and mild day temperatures.

The general forecast for the Dominion as a whole, issued at noon today for the ensuing twenty-four hours, is for north-westerly to. westerly winds predominating in most eastern districts and in the Cook and Foveaux Straits areas, otherwise winds will be southwesterly in direction, and their force generally will be moderate to strong. An anticyclone still extends from south-eastern Australia across the Tasman Sea on to the Dominion, while a series of slight westerly depressions is passing in the south. The latter have been responsible for showers in scattered places in the western and far southern districts of the South Island; but the weather generally has been fine and pleasant. Westerly or southwesterly winds have' predominated, but about Cook Strait and in places on the East Coast north-westerlies have blown at times. Winds have been strong and squally occasionally in some exposed positions about and I south of Cook Strait.

Auckland has had a continuance of cloudy to overcast weather with a moderate southerly wind.
