Lawrence West (Taranaki) hag taken a-course of air raid -precaution instruction at Bristol, and has since qualified as Grade I instructor and I lecturer in air raid precautions. Ho hopes to take a course of training at the Civilian Anti-gas School at FalI field, Gloucester, before returning to 'New Zealand. Meanwhile, Mr. West lis lecturing in lhe Woking and Guildford districts and studying ' general A.R.P. organisation. Mr. C. K. Webster (Wellington) awl Mr. John L. M.Sc, Victoria University College, Wellington, has been awarded the Chidlam scholarship' for post-graduate research at Birmingham University. Mr. McHroy was on the staff of Massey College before he came to England. . »u_j Mr. Norman Davis, Otago Rhode* Scholar for 1934, has taken up his appointment as a lecturer in the University of Kaunas, Lithuania. Mr. G. R. Ashbridge (Wellington), the holder of a Carnegie scholarship to study teachers' organisations andEducational Administration, is-in London. He has come to the National Union of Teachers as it is the aifli* powerful organisation of teachers m the world. Towards the end o< ttp year he will go to Paris, Berlin. Geneva, and Vienna, and .will return to London for a tour of England, Scotland, and Ireland. Early in th* yjg Mr. Ashbridge expects to leave for tn« United, States. ■* ;«k..j^ Mr. Sydney L. Thompson (Christchurch) has returned to Concan»ei#, where for so many years he lived ana painted some of his best-known^ ptelures.
