PAEKAKARIKI CLUB

The Paekakarlki Bowling Club opened its season on Saturday afternoon. There was a large attendance of members and visitors.. This seaside club has made good progress during its five years' existance, and although the membership is small, the green and appointments are excellent and the prospects for the coming season are bright. Mr. J. Firth, president, in his introductory remarks, deplored the absence, through indisposition, of Sir Charles Norwood, the patron of the club, but expressed pleasure at Lady Norwood's attendance to perform the opening ceremony in his absence. This sne did in an interesting speech, and after Mrs Firth, the wife of the president, had thrown the first jack, Lady Norwood declared the green open for play and delivered the first bo'Vl.

A large number of players had an enjoyable game and expressed great pleasure at the excellent condition of the green The ladies served afternoon 'tea in the club pavilion.
