"Since Mr. Handler's gift of £1000," his Lordship continues, "and Mr. Jacob's legacy of £1000, there have been promises of a legacy which will amount to between £10,000 and £12,000, and of gifts of £5000 and £2000, with other donations cf £200 and less."

His Lordship, at the meeting of Synod earlier this year, also announced that he would be. making a gift of £1000 towards the fund, the amount representing half his personal capital.
