Card' Evening at Kilbirnie R.S.A. There was another excellent attendance at the weekly card evening conducted by the social committee of the Kilbirnie branch of the R.S.A. The serving of the supper was in the hands of the ladies' committee and during the adjournment the chairman, Mr. Donald Gunn, thanked the players for their continued interest in the welfare of the club. . He also reminded those present of the forthcoming "raid" on the Ngaio stronghold on Thursday week, and the ladies of .the weekly card afternoon this week. It is hoped to arrange a special function on Armistice night when the members of the _ Karori auxiliary- have notified their intention of being present. Prizes were won by Mrs. M. Ball and Mr. W. F. Torkington for bridge, and by Mrs. Cameron and Mr. L. Barnett for "500." The competitions were won by Mr. F. Dick and Mrs. A. Charman. Pleasanfßeception. Mr. and Mrs. A. J. Cavanagh entertained a number of their friends at a pleasant party recently at their resi- ! dence, "Linton," in Wyndrum Avenue, ! Lower Hutt. The reception rooms ' were decorated with tulips and Iceland poppies, and the lounge and hall [ were thrown open for dancing. An attractive buffet supper was set out in I the dining-room.
