The present spell of sunny weather is very pleasant in its way, but it has one drawback in that the night temperatures are very low for this time of year. The result has been a marked check to the growth of vegetation. The cold nights, coupled perhaps with the absence of rain, have effectively put a stop to the growth of crops and flowers which, owing to the previous! mild season, were' promising well. The only consolation to be found is in the fact that the grass, too, has stopped growing quickly, hence there is not the necessity for the weekly or bi-weekly hard labour behind the mowing machine.
