Deaths on the road in Britain dux* ing September numbered 583, an in. crease of 16 as compared with last September. The totals for 1937 are: Dead, 4821; injured, 170,397.

Fatalities on speed-limit roads wera more than three times greater than on roads where there was no speed limit

As a protest against the lack of safety traffic signals, mothers and children formed a living barrier across tffe roadway in North Kensington, forcing traffic to stop.
