OFFICIAL ADVICE

NO COINS IN CHRISTMAS

PUDDINGS

LONDON, October 12. A special warning not to put the new 12-sided threepenny pieces in Christmas puddings has been issued by the Royal Mint. The coins are a brass and nickel combination. An official said that a pudding would not necessarily be poisoned by their inclusion, although if enough metal was dissolved it would possibly be so, but in any case the pudding would be tainted.

The mint's advice is to put no coins in puddings, as all contain a large amount of alloy.
