POLICE RADIO CARS
SPEED DEMONSTRATION
BRITISH MINISTER'S TEST (British Official Wireless.) ' | (Received October 13, 11.20 a.m.) j RUGBY, October 12. While Inspecting, the Vine Street police station,, the Home Secretary (Sir Samuel Hoare) expressed a wish to see a demonstration of the speed with which wireless communications are, sent to police cars.
At 10.56 p.m. he heard a message calling four cars to Piccadilly Circus, which is within a few yards of Vine Street. He then walked from the station to the Circus. The first police radio-car drew up in front of him at 10.59 p.m., and the others were all there six minutes after the call was sent out.
The Minister's visit was to enable him to acquire first-hand information on the running of police stations such as he had already gathered about the prison system. His visit will probably be followed by others!
