INCREASED DRINKING
(By' Telegraph—Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, October 12.
A discussion took place in the Auckland Presbytery tonight on increased drinking in the community, which was definitely attributed by some to recent legislation. The Rev. W. Bower Black said increased drinking was proving a very real and poignant social problem and leading to widespread breaches of the licensing Jaws.
The Rev. R. P. Fish said he had had more men under the influence of liquor coming to his mission this year than in any time in the past.
The presbytery met in private further to discuss the situation, and eventually the public questions committee was asked to investigate the position and report.
