WOMEN'S BILLIARDS
There was a good attendance at the Wellington women's billiards handicap tournament, held last night at Billiards, Ltd's showrooms. /ri the first same Mrs. J..' C. Boyes beat Mrs. H. Wilder, 75-64. The scoring was close throughout, and several breaks approaching a score were returned by both players. Mrs. C. Girdlestone showed brilliance, in beating Miss M. Duncan, 75-54. Mrs. J. Berrybeat Miss N. Boyes, 75-74. Both players showed great promise. Mrs. P. G. Taylor beat Mrs. D. Mercer, 75-47. The latter had rather an unfortunate run and this, combined with Mrs. Taylor's consistently useful breaks, made the gap too difficult, to bridge. .In the first semi-final, Mrs. Girdlestone beat Mrs. Boyes by 75-48, and in the second semi-final Mrs. Berry beat Mrs. Taylor, 75-64. ; The final provided a bright contest in which Mrs. Girdlestone beat Mrs. Berry, 100-64. The winner's breaks included ones of 28 and 23. Suitable presentations to both the winner and muner-up were made by ' Mr, F. W. Vosscler.
