"ADOLESCENT BOY"

LEAGUE Of MOTHERS The October meeting of the Island Bay-Berhampore branch of the League of Mothers was held in the Masonic Hall and presided over by Mrs. Janson. The hall was very attractively decorated with blue iris, hyacinths, and marigolds. A minute's silence was observed in memory of the passing of Mrs. A. A. Whitelaw, hon. Lite vice-president, who was the founder of the Island BayBerhampore branch. Greatly appreciated solos were rendered by Mesdames Davey, Smith, and Adair. Mr. R. M. Brasted, of the Y.M.C.A., spoke on "The Adolesent Boy." He said he was glad to be able to speak to mothers on such a subject, as many of them did not realise the change that takes place in the adolescent boy and his struggle for manhood. Fathers and mothers should have obedience from their sons and lead and not drive them, praise and encourage them, and never let them ,down. Finally they should be enmeshed in the ties of an attractive home, and thus be guided through a difficult stage of their development A vote of thanks was accorded to the speaker and soloists, and afternoon tea was served.
