HUTT VALLEY GAS

If arrangements could not be made about a holder for storage of gas the position would be serious, said Mr. R. M* Russell at the meeting of the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Board last evening. It was reported that inquiries were being made as to an extension of the overdraft facilities, which the board required for the erection of a holder. The chairman (Mr. W. G. Lodder) remarked that even if an order could be placed immediately the board would not have the use of the holder for twelve months. The question was a big one, and the situation had altered greatly in the last twelve months. The board would have to meet the difficulty the best way it could when it arrived, Mr. Russell said he thought the situation was a little more serious than was imagined. He had thought of asking the secretary for a report on storage based on an output 01,250,000,000 cubic feet a year.
