The Tokio correspondent of "T Times" states that Japanese motoris columns are pushing forward speedily as possible to gather the fru o£ the Shihchiachwang victor y on 70-mile crescent-shaped front. ..Th have already captured Chaochow a Yuanshih, 20 miles south of Shihchia< wang. The furthest advance r. reached Kaoyi, and at another poi they have penetrated 10 miles to t south, where the Chinese are conc( trating. The Japanese bombing of t Chinese avenues of retreat and troop train* continues. The Japanese are- still pressing tfai advance on the Peking-Hankow re way.
The Chinese, some of whom e fighting a desperate rearguard actit are hastily digging defences in t neighbourhood of Changteh, a lai walled town in ' Northern Honan, the hope of stemming a general : treat.
The Japanese capture of Tsinghsi is important, as it cuts the railway Taiyuan.
Japanese from the north have c; lured Hsinchol, 40 miles north of T yuan, which is isolated from the r£ way.
The Chinese repulsed an attempt landing north-west of Liuho, playi havoc with the Japanese with machii guns.
Chinese counter-attacks hurled ba the Japanese at Tazang after they h made an advance of two miles.
