In the hope of producing a flow of well-equipped recruits to industry, Lord Nuffield has offered £1,000,000 to Oxford University to endow a college to be devoted to social studies, and also a site for a building. In addition he has offered £200,000 for medical research. His offer totals £1,300,000, the objective being to facilitate co-opera-tion between academic and non-aca-demic persons.

Lord Nuffield announces that he will be making no more benefactions for the present.
