BOTTLED BEER
BETTER THAN EVER COMPETITIONS IN LONDON (Received October 12, 10.30 a.m.) LONDON, October 11. Beer is better than it has. ever been before was the conclusion of the judges at bottled beer competitions in London, in which Empire beers were entered for the first time. The Dunedin Brewery, New Zealand, won one of the two Empire contests. The judges praised the fine quality of the overseas brews, but declared it was impossible to" compare British and overseas beers as the latter were mostly of the lager type. It was announced that Britain consumes 300,000,000 gallons of bottled beer a year, plus at larger quantity from casks.
