BILLIARDS

Semi-finals and finals of the Wellington small-table ; billiards tournament were played last night at Billiards' Ltd.'s.showrooms. Eaton, who was conceding Gilberd a start of 80. in 250 up, had little difficulty in winning. His play was consistent ond produced a 41 break and a number between 20 and 30. .Keech, though conceding C. Lovell a start of 70 in 200 up, also had a comfortable win, though at one stage the Taranaki representative looked, likely to triumph. In the final ,S. Eaton, owe 75, had to concede Keech'a start of 135 in 375, and, on the latter's form, this looked almost an impossibility. Keecli played with confidence, and. in a winning vein and, with the handicap disadvantage, the task proved too great for Eaton. The game ended: Keech 375, Eaton 264. The best breaks were: Winner, 22, 35 loser, 23, 22, 36. Trophies were presented to both winner aiid runner-up by Mr. F. W. Vosseler, and also to Mr, W. H. Long for the highest break, computed on handicap. : The, women's billiards handicap tournament, which has drawn eight entries, will begin tonight at 7 o clock at Messrs. Billiards Limited's show- J rooms. This will be decided on a simir lar principle to the small-table event. but, shorter games will be contested.
