WEDDING

BIRSS—COLQUHOUN.

An interesting wedding wes solemnised On Saturday at St. Andrew's Church, when Florence Mary, dauglv ter of Colonel Colquhoun, D.5.0., and Mrs. Colquhoun, Wellington, was mar-ried-to Victor, Norman, son of the late Mr', and Mrs. J. Birss, Hanmer Springs. The ceremony' was performed by the Rev- J- E. Lopdeil, and the organist was Mr. Thomas. An unusual feature was that the Rev. Mr. Lopdeil served for a year in the war as padre to Colonel Colquhoun's battalion, the 3rd Otago Infantry Regiment. The bridegroom's first connection with the army was when he enlisted for service at the age of 16.

A cocktail suit of deep cream cloque was worn by the bride. Buttoned from neck to hem at the back and from neck to waist in the front, it had a flared fan-shaped skirt. A little matching hat with a net eye-veil and finished with orange-blossom was worn, .and her Victorian posy of deep cream | roses was made with touches of pink and blue. Miss Joyce Colquhoun (cousin of the bride), was bridesmaid, and wore a powder-blue taffeta frock

and a matching • coatee with quilted lapels and padded box-shoulders. She wore a matching halo of blue, and carried a posy of spring flowers in shades of pink. The best man was Mr. Vernon L. Thomas, of 'Lower Hutt. Messrs. Douglas. Colquhoun and Ewen Morrison were ushers. The reception was held at the Majestic Cabaret, where the bride's aunt, Mrs. J. A. Colquhoun, Palmerston North, received the guests. She wore a frock of Chinese blue satin crepe, with matching hat and accessories, and carried a Victorian posy in pink and red tonings. , When Mr. and Mrs. Birss left for a ; tour, the bride .wore a turquoise frock, with ruched sleeves, and a posy at the | neck. An unusual finish was given by the gipsy-striped sash which matched her small hat. Her coat was of camellias. The bride and the bridegroom will !make their future home at Hanmer , Springs.
