WAYS WITH ORANGES
Take the halves of orange skins left over when the juice has been squeezed out. Cut the edges into a zigzig. Fill with pieces of fresh ginger, or if the dish is for children, with slices of banana, etc. Lay a slice of orange on the top, and decorate with whipped cream. Another idea is to fill the skins with jelly or orange cream, or indeed with other flavoured creams, and grated nuts on top. A glass of fresh orange juice taken regularly morning and evening makes the complexion clear and sparkling. For those who wish to slim, orange juice taken without sugar is excellent and very healthy. A refreshing orange salad can be made this way: Peel the oranges and remove the white skin, as it gives the salad a bitter taste. Cut oranges into thin slices, using a fruit knife, place the slices in a glass bowl, layer by layer, and over each layer sprinkle sugar. The salad is improved by sprinkling grated nuts or almonds over it, and a little rum, brandy, or raspberry syrup. Leave it for one hour before serving.
