A CONFIDENCE TRICK
MESSAGE BOY ROBBED
I (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, October 8. A message boy from a city furniture firm was robbed of nearly £50 by a confidence trick this afternoon. He was returning to his place of employment from the bank, where he had collected the weekly wages for all employees of the firm, when a man accosted him, saying he was a bank inspector.
"That cheque you just presented was a dud," said the man. "I will take this money back to the bank, and you tell your manager to come round to the side door and we will fix it up."
The boy handed over the money and ;he man rode away on a bicycle. So "ar he has not been traced.
