NATIVES FIRED ON
SOUTH AFRICAN BEER RAID
JOHANNESBURG, September 20,
Surrounded by a frenzied crowd of natives, police conducting a beer raid in the Vereeniging district left three constables dead and one critically injured. The police retired, firing into the crowd and wounding several.
Twenty-three arrests were made.
