FLOWER SHOW AT MIRAMAR
Spring flowers were In abundance at the show held under the auspices of the Miramar and Eastern Suburbs Horticultural Society at the tennis pavilion on Saturday, the space allotted for the exhibits being fully occupied. There was a good attendance of members and visitors.
The president of the society (Mr. H. J. Crewes), in declaring the season open, mentioned that the latest classification list of daffodils contains over 7600 names, several of which have been raised in New Zealand. He also gave an interesting talk on the legendary birth of-the narcissus and the hyacinth.
Mr. E. Taylor judged the exhibits, and Mrs. Crewes, wife of the president, distributed the prizes. During the proceedings a presentation of a crystal rose bowl was made to Mrs. J. Robertson, who is leaving the district, as a mark of appreciation of the services rendered by her to the society. Messrs. J. S. Vickers and V. M. Broughton carried out the secretarial duties, and Messrs. H. Jones and A. Dean were in charge of the arrangements for the show.

Most points, narcissus section: Mr. T. Lane. 1; Mrs. Steele, 2; ;Mr. J. S. Vickers, 3. Most points, miscellaneous section: Mrs. W. Hutson, 1; Mrs. C. Clark, 2; Mr. T. Lane, 3. Children's section: Xase of flowers, Laurie Watkins 1, Heather Robertson 2, Shirley Gallagher 3; sand posy, Stanice Stone 1, Allison Craighead 2, Peggy Whittington 3. Other prize-winners were: Mr. L. Francis, Mrs. Williams, Miss M. Stone. Miss Prescott, Miss N. Fevre, Mrs. J. Robertson, and Mr. J. T. Townson.
