AIRSHIP WORKS ON FIRE

ELECTRICAL STORM

TEN BALLOONS DESTROYED

ALOFT

(Received September 18, 10 a.m.)

LONDON, September 17.

During an electrical storm at Cardington, airship works were set on fire. Ten balloons which were aloft in connection with an experimental antiaircraft barrage scheme for use in wartime were all consumed before reaching the ground. The near approach of one balloon to a tent caused the occupants to run for their lives.
