DRAMA FESTIVAL

OFFICERS ELECTED

(By Telegraph—Press Association.) ROTORUA, This Day. The finals of the 1937 competitions of Ihb New Zealand British Drama League were held at Rotorua last night before a large attendance. The finalists were the Napier Repertory Players A team, Falmerston North Little Theatre I Society A team, and the Dunedin j Repertory Society's team. Napier, who ! produced the play "The Three Hun- i dredth Performance," were placed first, i The judges, Miss Elizabeth Loe and Mr. W. S. Wauchop, both referred to the high standajrd ,of the three performances and congratulated the Napier team on a particularly finished presentation. Second and third placings were not announced, but the judges indicated that there was very little between the three teams. The annual meeting of the New Zealand branch was held during the day when the following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, the Rt. Hon. Sir Michael Myers; vicepresidents, Lady Ferguson, Misses A. G. Kane, Elizabeth Blake, Sir George Shirtcliffe, Messrs. W. M. Page, A. S. Farquhar, H. R. Tomlinson, A. J. Heighway, J. D. Swan, Dr. W. H. Unwin; national executive, Misses Kane and Blake; secretary, Mr. H. Esmond Greig; librarian, Miss B. Page; treasurer, Mr. S. Natusch; members, Miss D. Isaacs, Mr. G. H. A. Swan, Mr. A. S. Farquhar, Dr. Benham. Among the remits approved was one increasing the levy Id per player in each affiliated group or society to 3d with a maximum of £3 3s. It was decided that in future annual meetings should take place in Wellington, and the council indicated that the invitation from Hastings to hold the next festival finals there would be considered.
