TURF NEWS IN BRIEF
Weights for the Foxton Meeting are due to appear on Monday. Racing next week at Foxton, Ashburton, and Avondale on Saturday. The Avondale Meeting will be concluded, on the Monday following. : Racing in Australia next week will be conducted by the Rosehill Racing Club, the final important prelude to the A.J.C. Meeting, and the Men tone Turf Club in Victoria.
Flood Tide, who was recently sent across to Melbourne in company with his younger full-sister Miss Lovelock, is to have a race prior to contesting the Caulfield Cup. Pennyplain, who ran third in the Harris Memorial Hurdles at the Pakuranga Hunt Meeting, will race over hurdles at Avondale, after which he will be kept going for the Waikato Hunt Cup, at Cambridge, on Labour Day. ' For the third year in succession, the imported horse Seacrest headed the list of winning sires in Western Australia last season, being represented by 49 winners. The former New Zealander, Agrion, was second with 41 winners.
