HIGH PRICE CHECKS DEMAND

The Bank of New Zealand, produce department, has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business this week:—There is a good demand * for . light-weight wethers. The demand for ewes is improving, but prices are practically unchanged. The advance in prices has checked the demand for lambs. There is a moderate demand for chilled beef. .Wethers, light 5Jd to 6d per lb, heavy 4^d to 5 l-8d; ewes, 3Jd to 4 l-8d; lambs, 2's 7£d to 7 7-Bd, B's 7 5-8 dto 73d, 4's 7 l-8d to 7Jd, seconds 7 3-8 d to 7Jd; chilled hinds, 4Jd to 5Jd, fores 2Jd to 3d.
