WOMEN CONCERNED

A deputation representing women's Interests met the Borough Council last night with a view to framing a plan, to stop drinking at dances. The suegestions advanced were that commissionaires be employed to exercise tactful control and check disorderly behaviour, or that a bylaw be introduced to the effect that no. dance be conducted without the authority of » special permit issued by the BoroughCouncil, ruling that trie dance must be conducted in an orderly and seemly fashion.

A councillor suggested the establishment of a citizens' committee which would appoint members, wearipg armlets to attend each dance.

The legal and finance committee is" to make a report.
