HOT SPRINGS IN THE ARCTIC
Six hot springs in the eastern part of the Chukotsk'Peninsula, in the Far North, long known to the local population for their curative properties, are to be investigated by an expedition. Apart from the fact that the presence of hot-springs, with temperatures near to boiling point in a region of permanent' frost is an interesting scientific puzzle,'the springs have practical possibilities. The expedition will investigate' the possibility of opening up health resorts, and the utilisation of the water to heat greenhouses for the growing- of the vegetables. the Far North is so much, in need of.
