SUCCESSFUL BOWLING MINOR COUNTIES MAKE 310 FINE OPENING STAND (From the Special Correspondent of the United Press Association.) GAINSBOROUGH. September 5. Minor Counties opened impressively with a partnership of 120 for the first wicket against New Zealand yesterday, and the innings produced 310 runs. New Zealand had made 19 for one wicket at stumps. ■ - The New Zealand team is:—Lowry. Kerr, Hadlee, Weir, Wallace, Roberts, Dunning, Donnelly; Lamason, Carson, and Gallichan. Roberts was bowling with A fine combination of accuracy and length and disconcerting flight, and- captured the wickets o* the first three batsmen, two of whom were clean bowled. ' Three wickets fell quickly after lunch, Gallichan taking two. one well caught at the sight screen and th'p other smartly stumped. The sixth wicket added 59 runs and the eighth 64, the bowlers having a difficult task on an easy wicket with a fast outfield. Gallichan bowled with well-con-trolled length and flight, and wellearned success New, Zealand batted for half an hour. The Minor Counties' team, embracing the best players from Bucks, Norfolk, Wiltshire, Suffolk, and Devon, and promising players from the second elevens of Surrey, Middlesex. Lancashire, and Yorkshire, is as strong as most first-class counties. Maxwell is [from Surrey, Butler from Wiltshire, 'and B. W. Rought-Rought is one of the noted cricketing brotherhood from Norfolk.
