FORM OF DISCUSSION
THE MAIN OBJECTIVE FUTURE RATHER THAN PAST (British Official1 Wireless.) (Received September 6, 11.20 a.m.) RUGBY, September 5. So far as the British Government is concerned, all its energies at the "Mediterranean Conference will be directed towards ensuring the adop tiorj of carefully-deviseu • practica! measures that will afford security for Mediterranean traffic. It is hoped and believed here that those taking part,in the conference will share the British Government's view that it is future security rather than discussion of past events that must be the main occupation of the conference. Public opinion in Britain has become highly incensed by the course of recent events in the Mediterranean, but the * steps already taken, namely, the sending of British reinforcements to the western basin of the Mediterranean and the .Government's announcement regarding the conference, have had a steadying effect. p ' ■ ■
