FINAL RESULTS
A large crowd of spectators watched I the final matches in the Wellington table | tennis championships at St. Paul's Schoplroom last night and was thrilled time and time again by the fine exhibitions given. The play was of a high standard throughout and all the games were keenly contested. Seldom does a New.Zealand audience display such enthusiasm outside of a Rugby ground as was evident last night. Results of the semi-finals and finals are as follows:— ■ Men's Open ■ Singles.—SemF-finals: Boniface beat Wilson, 21-15, 21-11, 21-3; McFarlane beat Kennedy. 21-17, 21-10, 21-13. Final: McFarlane beat Boniface, 15-21, 27-25, 21-15, 23-25, 21-19. This was '.an extremely interesting and exciting game with McFarlane slightly the better of the two. ' Although Boniface opened well,' Me-' Farlane started a series of strong attacks and. worked hard. to get his opponent out of position. Boniface made a number of good recoveries. Men's, Open Doubles.—Semi-finals: Boniface and Longmore beat Kennedy and Wilson, 21-17, 21-G, 21-18; Bell and Pyle beat Hughes and Croudis, 22-20, 21-19, 21-18. Final: Boniface and Longmore beat Bell and Pyle, 10-21; 21-19, 22-20 24-22. Women's Open Singles.—Semi-finals: Miss Strang beat Miss Harvey, 21-18, 3-21, 21-19; Miss : Tustin beat Mrs. Sutherland, 21-15. 21-13. Final: Miss Strang beat Miss Tustin, 15-21, 21-15, 21-16. This match, too, was. a thrilling one, both ladies' playing well, and the result was left in doubt right until the end. Women's Open Doubles.—Semi-finals: Misses Tustin and Walsh beat Misses Croxton and Wareham, 21-12, 21-14: Misses Strang and Harvey beat Miss Sturrock and Mrs. Kennedy, 14-21, 21-12, 21-14. Final: Misses Tustin and Walsh beat MissesStrang and Harvey, 21-18, 21-14. ■. .. . Mixed Open Doubles.—Semi-finals: Hughes and Miss Tustin beat Kennedy and Miss Sturrock, 21-15, 22-24, 21-17; Boniface and Miss Harvey beat McFarlane and Miss Strang, 21-14, 21-19. Filial: Hughes and Miss Tustin beat Boniface and Miss Harvey,' 21-23, 21-3, 21-11. •.:,••■■ Men's Second Grade Singles.—Semifinals: K. Bolland beat K. Sutton, 24-22, 12-21, 23-21; S. Henderson beat M. A.. Dixon, 21-6, 21-17. Final:. Henderson beat Bollarid, 21-15, 21-19. Men's Second Grade Doubles. —Semifinals: Dixon and Rice beat Moncriefl and Pickering, 18-21, 21-18, 21-17; Harcombe and Price beat Baker and Russell, 21-25, 21-17. Final: Harcombe and Price beat Dixon and Rice, 16-21, 22-20, 21-17. ■ Men's Third. Grade Singles.—Semifinals: N. Roche beat Pask. 21-12, 21-17; Foley beat Byers, 23-21, 21-14.
