(By Telegraph.) (Special' to the'''Evening Post.") , ■•■■. .' ■■: DUNEDIN, This Day. Present * shipments of bananas and kumeras from Niue Island are not so large as usual, according to Mr. J. H. Duncan, manager-:'.of Tapley and Co., Ltd.; ; who returned by-the Maui Pomare this.week. ; Thereason for the smaller shipments, he said, was the long; spell of dry weather adversely affecting production of fruits at both Apia and Niue. Numerous precautions were taken to ensure that the fruit arrived, in the best of condition. Mr. Duncan inspected rubber, cocoa, and banana plantations, and, he said, officials were doing excellent work.
