CRICKET UMPIRES

MEMBERSHIP APPEAL

The valuable service ' given by umpires is a subject of special•;.mention by the committee of the "Wellington Cricket Association in its annual report, which states:—"The Umpires' Association has again placed - this association under'a debt of gratitude'to it for the work carried out by its members last year during which umpires were, as usual, appointed to ■all' senior ! and second grade matches, and also to quite a number of the lower grade matches. The membership showed a slight falling off last year, and, as a strong and capable Umpires' Association is essential for the carrying on effectively of the game, the committee joins with that body in urging all ex-players and other enthusiasts to join up with the Umpires' Association."
