FOUR CENTURIES OF HITLERS

I see that the organisation for the study of family trees which has been set up in Leipzig has now been looking into Herr Hitler's ancestry. Needless to .say, it is purely "Aryan," says, a writer in the "Daily Telegraph." It has been found possible to trace his family back to the beginning of the sixteenth century. All the Fuhrer's ancestors were small farmers in the north-western part of Lower Austria. The first member of the family to enter the service of the State as an official was his father. The name Hitler has been found 4in such forms as Hiedler and Huettler, and is said to derive from the word "Huette," which means a hut—or, as the Leipzig investigators more politely put it, "a small farmhouse." Good National Socialists will be pleased to know that there is every prospect of Herr Hitler, who is now 48, living to a ripe old age. As the average age of his male forbears was 78 he can expect to become a septuagenarian ; t least. In one respect, however, the old Hiedlers and Huettlers surpassed their distinguished descendant. They were almost all "rich in children."
