TEA MARKETS.

1 Common teas were fully firm at the 'Colombo auction this week, according to private advices received in Wellington. For medium and better grades prices advanced slightly according to quality, which was good. There will be no sale, next week owing to the annual tea-traders' holiday. . Both the London and Calcutta markets were very firm.

Wright has received the following cabled report on the Colombo tea auction of August 31:—Medium and better grade teas were slightly dearer, while quotations for common types remained firm at last week's rates. The quality of the offerings showed improvement. There will be no sale next week owing to the annual tea trade holiday.
