(Special to the "Evening Post.")

PALMERSTON N., This Day.

This, it was contended at yesterday's meeting of the Manawatu provincial executive of the Farmers' Union, entailed extra freight costs for farmers and a longer journey for stock than need be with consequent added risks of them suffering damage. The meeting could not understand why a stock train could not be made up at Paekakariki and taken over the old line to Johnsonville as in the, past. Jt was decided to make inquiries.
