STRONGER LEAGUE

APPEAL TO THE PUBLIC

A call to the people of New Zealand to take a more active part in mobilising public opinion in support of the League of Nations was made at the annual conference of the New Zealand League of Nations Union today. The following resolution was carried:—

"That the New Zealand League of Nations Union affirms its conviction that the war in Spain, the Sino-Japan-ese war, the re-armament race, and the general deterioration in international relations are all a direct result of wakened confidence in the League as a system of collective security, and, believing that these recent events have demonstrated more clearly than ever the need for a strong League that can prevent aggression and ensure collective security, this conference urges the people of the Dominion to take a more active part in mobilising public opinion in support of the League."
