A CHEQUE TRANSACTION

(Received August 27, 10.15 a.m.) LONDON, August 26. Dick Beaumont,; navigator of the yawl in which the six "Mayfair Playboys*' plan to sail round the world, called in at Southampton, to buy provisions for the vessel, and; was detained by the police and brought to London in connection with a. cheque transaction. Beaumont was charged, at Bow Street with passing a worthless cheque at a West End hotel. ;■■ The prosecutor said there was a more serious charge pending. Bail was not granted. Beaumont's solicitor said -that the trip was not likely to eventuate."
