SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) THE CHATEAU, August 26. The Ruapehu Ski Club's champion-1 ships commenced today. The weather, has been unsettled for the past two! days, but the sun shone* during the i races. Results:— Women's Slalom.—Miss S. E.* MacPherson (Palmerston North), 75 2-5 sec, 1; Miss J. Harrison (Auckland), 77' l-ssec, 2; Miss E. Smith (Wellington), 88 l-ssec, 3. Women's Novice Hace.—Miss H. Schmidt (Auckland), 1; Miss E. Hunter (Te Awamiitu), 2; Miss T.- Rowe (Auckland), 3. It is expected that the 'men's downhill and possibly the men's slalom races will be held tomorrow. The Tararua Tramping Club's races also commence tomorrow. Events open to all comers are to be held on1 Saturday. Trophies have been presented by the management of The Chateau.
