POTATO MARKET
SHORTAGE OF SUPPLIES
(By Telesraph.) (Special to the"Evenjno Post") . ■ DUNEDIN. This Day. A matter of concern in New Zealand at the present is the potato market, and so far as the position is concerned locally, unless there is still available in Canterbury a surplus greater than can be disposed of by ordinary, requirements, there is little chance of the market becoming easier. Country., supplies are exhausted, and stock held in store is negligible. The tendency will probably be for prices to firm further unless Canterbury unloads its alleged surplus. It is questionable whether there is any bigi surplus •in Canterbury, and in some local quarters there is strong contention that quantities still available there are not so great as has been represented.
