FOOTBALLER'S DEATH

An inquest into the death of Angus Colin''McLean, ; of Waipu, who died after a' football accident 'at MareretU on July 31, was further adjourned on the application of the police. John Donald McLean, the deceased's father, giving evidence yesterday, said he asked his son how the accident happened. His son replied that he had caught the jersey of a player, who had swung round and hit him. ;/ The evidence of the referee, spectators, and players was that the game was clean and friendly and there was no element of feeling between the team's. .The referee said that McLean told him that someone had struck him with his elbow, but the witness said he saw no blow struck.
