MANAGER'S CONTRACT
FARR OFFERED'CHANGE
PROSPECTS AGAINST LOUIS
(Received August 16, 2 p.m.) LONG BRANCH (New Jersey), August 15. Al Weill, manager of the lightweight boxing champion, Lou Ambers, after watching Tommy Farr, the Welsh challenger for Joe Louis's heavyweight title, spar five rounds; dramatically offered Ted Broadribb 35,000 dollars for his manager's contract, plus 25 per cent, of Farr's championship purse, representing at least 16,500 dollars. Broadribb replied that he would not consider the offer unless it was agreeable to Farr, who exclaimed: "1 do not want any other manager." This appears to dispose of rumours that Farr and Broadribb are quarrelling, and also indicates the regard of American experts for Farr, despite the current odds in favour of Louis.
