PLAYERS AT TEA
A pleasant function .took place in the granstand at Athletic Park after the big match on Saturday, the teams and many other enthusiasts being entertained ■at afternoon tea. At this gathering the president of the New Zealand Rugby Union, Mr, R. T. Meredith, said that he thought there was nothing finer after a hard game, such as that which had been played that afternoon, than to meet "at a. gathering of tius kind and talk over the match. "I think you will all agree that today you saw one of the finest matches you could ever wish for," said Mr. Meredith. "You will also agree that the team opposing the New Zealand team is one of the finest sporting teams we have had in this country." He also took the 'opportunity of thanking all for the -ordial hearing given both teams on the field. • . . . •. The Hon. P. Fraser, Minister of Education, paid tribute to the splendid exhibition of football given by two wonderful teams. From start to finish the game held.the attention of everybody. He had never seen a better game of football. On behalf of all present at the function the Minister expressed thanks to the ladies who were responsible for the afternoon tea.
