TROPHIES PRESENTED

An active flying year was reported at the annual meeting of the [Wellington Model Aeroplane Club ion Friday ni£ht. Twenty-one ordinary outdoor flying meetings had been ! held, together with a number of special activities. These included "flying picnics" at Trentham Racecourse and Maori Bank, supported by twelve members of the Labour Day meeting at Palmerston North, a well-attended i Easter Camp at Paraparaumu Beach, and a.demonstration visit to Masterton. Models had been entered in overseas competitions, and numerous provincial and New Zealand records .had been held. The club was strong financially and had every prospect of a successful, future. ■ • ! Among the guests at the meeting were Mr. Owen Davia, of the Salvai tion' Army Model Club, and Mr. K. [Dickie, of the Wellington Model Engineering Society. The latter addressjed the meeting on the subject of pub- ; licity, and also detailed the prelimjnary ground his society had covered in organising a crafts exhibition to be i held next year and described the ad- ( vance plans for a model engineering i and allied model crafts court at the New Zealand Centennial Exhibition. A ; moti6n conveying the full co-operation |of the Wellington Model- Aeroplane I Club in these projects was carried. During the evening a presentation I was made to the club captain, Mr. H. E. Righton. . ■ [ Trophies and cups won by members during the year were presented to the winners by the club captain as follows:—Squadron Cup, No. 3 Squadron (Mr. G. Henderson); Hill Tronhy, for the best indoor flight, Mr. E. Thornley (6min 42sec); Winter Show Association Cups, Mr. I. Mclntyre, exhibition uncovered scale model; Mr. I. Mclntyre, best time in the junior flying class; Mr. A. Vause, senior exhibition covered scale model; "The' Ashes," Mr. G. Collier; Aotearoa Cup, Mr. G. Collier (14min 49sec). The election of officers resulted as follows:—President, Mr. A. G. Maylet; club captain, Mr. H: E. Righton; sec-retary-treasurer, Mr. S. Marsden; management committee, Messrs A W Pearce, A. G. Read, G. Henderson, J:G. McGuire, E. Thornley.
