Jack Jarvis has held the Dominion lightweight boxing title for two years, having beaten Clarrie Rayner in a match to find the champion when Joe Franklin (holder) left New Zealand. Jarvis has retained it ever since. In 1936. Jarvis went on an Australian tour, and he knocked out Jackie Moore in seven rounds. He was disqualified against Hughie Mehegan in a memorable contest.
