HOPE GIBBONS SHIELD
The second of the three.annual contests for the Hope Gibbons Shield is to be held on Saturday, the course being from the Petone Rowing Club sheds to Quinn's Post and back. An interesting race is bound to ensue, and the Port Nicholson and Petone Clubs will be keen-to ■ pick up their deficits on the first race, which was won by a margin of lmin lOsec by the Poneke A team, which will ■be equally as keen to retain the advantage already gained.
A junior event has. also been arranged, and is to start' at 2.15 .p.m. Handicaps will be declared at the starting point. The distance of this race will be 15 miles. . ■ ...
