Crossing the world in the yacht Idle Hour, Dwight Long, who left Seattle in 1934, arrived at Ramsgate after sailing 30,000 miles. The yacht's sails were blown out in the English Channel. His companion, Wilbur Thomas, was washed overboard, but was rescued.
